Stick to singing, Jamelia

Talking. Out. Of. Arse.

"I mean, I remember when I was younger and Margaret Thatcher was in power, you know...She seems to be, you know, for the working class...".

That's the exact quote from singer Jamelia on First Time Voters' Question Time - broadcast on Wednesday on BBC3.

For the record, Jamelia was 9 (nine) when Maggie resigned. No further comment necessary.

I watched it too.

David Lammy was also embarrassing. The epitome of New Labour. He talked and talked, he probably talked more than anyone else but said absolutely nothing.

Yeah, Maggie for the working classes.

Like, when she said, "A man who, beyond the age of 26, finds himself on a bus can count himself as a failure".

Or when she introduced the Poll Tax, right?

When she cut back on services and social housing...

Or when she abolished free milk for school-children...

Further evidence that TV producers should stop inviting celebrities just to have a celebrity on the screen even if they haven't got the slightest clue about the subject discussed.

I didn't see the programme, but heard she was a bit out of her depth.

Celebrities should do some sort of revision on key topics before appearing on such shows.

That's what I'd do if I was a guest on something like Question Time. The last thing I want to do is come across like a complete idiot on telly!

She can't make music, can't make political comment either.

Gives celebrities a bad name this kind of verbal idiocy.

How old were you ?

Aside from the fact that the words came from a woman who - during the programme - repeatedly said she's never followed politics and has never voted...Let's pretend she didn't say any of that...

I would never say "I remember Margaret Thatcher was against the working classes"... remember being the key word here.

This simple point can't be that difficult to grasp, can it?

Jamelia is not merely a typical clueless celeb, though, is she? As the Voice of Youth By Appointment to HRH The Prince of Wales, her cluelessness has official support: it is her job to serve as a living embodiment of the "clueless yoof" stereotype, and she's probably too thick to even realise it.
